Melissa Wallace has had a love for art for as long as she can remember and the passion to create has always been within her. This combined with her endless enthusiasm and ability to sense her natural surroundings has allowed her to refine her craft over the years.
Living at Lake Taupo in the Central North Island, New Zealand means she is inspired by the natural beauty that surrounds her everyday whether it is the landscape, bird life or flora. Her inspiration comes from her love of nature yet she continuously extends and expresses her own style through her paintings. She is rewarded when someone discovers meaning in her art – that is when she feels her greatest sense of achievement.
Melissa primarily uses acrylics and oil on canvas and from time to time uses a resin on her pieces to produce a high gloss look. Her work is displayed in her own gallery in Taupo Town Center where she also paints on site. She has exhibited at the New Zealand Art Show for three years and her work hangs in several private collections in places all over the globe including New York, Canada, Singapore, Australia and Ireland.
In addition, Melissa has a studio in Taupo and over the winter months she helps beginners to start off and discover their own love of painting. She hopes that she will be able set the path in motion for another artist to gain confidence and launch their own career as she herself was able to do.
Melissa is married with 3 children all of whom share her creativity so art is part of her family life as well. Whether being inspired or striving to inspire others, art is an integral part of Melissa’s life and she is continually trying to pass on her passion through her paintings. She particularly loves to see the joy that others get from art and strongly believes art plays a vital, positive role in today’s society.
